Muller UK recalls Cadbury Cheesecake Desserts fearing they contain a deadly listeria bacteria

Two Cadbury desserts have been removed from supermarkets, fearing that they contain a deadly strain of bacteria.

The Food Standard Agency warned buyers not to eat Cadbury Milk Cheese and Cadbury Milk Cheese Cake Puddings, but rather to return them.

The recall is due to "the possible presence of listeria monocytogenes", responsible for listeriosis and leading to sepsis, meningitis and encephalitis, inflammation of the brain.

Normally, the symptoms of listeriosis include high temperature, muscle aches, chills, nausea and diarrhea.

In rarer cases, this can lead to complications such as meningitis and other serious infections.

When listeriosis occurs in high-risk individuals, such as the elderly, frail women and pregnant women, it can be fatal.

A spokesman for Müller, who produces Cadbury's licensed desserts, said: "Müller UK recalls the Cadbury Dairy Milk Cheesecake Dessert and Cadbury Dairy Milk Cheesecake Caramel Milk Desserts, as a precaution, because the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

"Müller manufactures these products under license from Cadbury and pointed out that this did not affect the other products he manufactures for Cadbury; or Cadbury Cheesecake variants in the UK or in other markets. & # 39;

In a recall notice to supermarkets, they added, "We point out that there is an isolated incident and that a thorough investigation is underway.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and we thank you for your cooperation in this matter."
