The Kiwi Joseph Parker ready to prove his victory over Andy Ruiz Jr was not a coincidence

Joseph Parker paid tribute to Andy Ruiz Jr's magnificent victory over the world heavyweight title against Anthony Joshua in New York and immediately raised his hand to give the new champion time to correct the only defect in his record ,

"It has improved and I would love to fight it again," Parker told AB Boxing News at Madison Square Garden just after Ruiz 's shocked stint at Joshua' s seventh round.

The New Zealand boxer, who inflicted on Ruiz Jr his only loss as a professional after winning a majority decision against him in 2016, praised the Mexican-American who stood up in the third round to win the victory when the referee stopped the fight at the seventh.

"The referee gave him [Joshua] a chance, of course Andy, "said Parker who attended the fight with coach Kevin Barry." Our team knew that it [Ruiz Jr] was going to be difficult, fast and explosive, and he showed it. "

But Parker stopped naming Ruiz the best of a suddenly competitive heavyweight division.

"I always think [Tyson] Fury is the best, "said Parker who lost his WBO title to Joshua in 2018 when the British fighter beat him by unanimous decision.

Later, the New Zealander, who became much more relevant in the ranks of heavyweights, paid tribute to Ruiz on Twitter.

"Humble in the victory and graceful in the defeat @anthonyfjoshua This moment is yours Andy Ruiz and the course of history takes a turn just like that. The heavyweight division is alive and well! @ Congratulations @ Andy_destroyer1", Parker writes.

Parker, who won a three million dollar contract to end his long period of inactivity, is not immediately affected by Ruiz's result, although his victory in the division is underlined by his victory over the Mexican-American.

Parker defeated American Eric Molina in the US at the end of the month, and a win in this fight would put him on track to return to the commercial side of the division.

After the fight, Ruiz said that revenge for his loss to the Kiwi was not high on his list of priorities. The 29-year-old Californian is contractually obliged to offer Joshua a revenge that the British promoter, Eddie Hearn has already indicated, will take place in the UK in November or December.

"I do not really care anymore," Ruiz said after the fight when he was asked to avenge his defeat against Parker.

"When I fought it [Parker] I trained and many people do not know it. I trained for this fight. And I feel that I've won and now I'm the WBO [heavyweight] world champion.

"I'm just happy, I just want to take this moment [and share it] with my family and my kids and just enjoy it. "

Ruiz Jr. has now won 32 of his 33 professional fights, with 22 knockouts and only the simple defeat against Parker in a disputed decision. The Mexican-American fighter now holds heavyweight boxing titles WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO and his compatriot Deontay Wilder holds the WBC belt.
