ZURICH (Reuters) – Sunrise Communications said on Monday that the Swiss competition authorities have decided to examine in detail the plan to buy the Liberty Global UPC cable business for $ 6.3 billion.

Sunrise said they were waiting for the review, adding that the deal should be approved, stating that "the buyout of UPC Switzerland will intensify competition in the telecommunications market".

Sunrise has announced a decision by early October 2019 and plans to finalize the transaction in the fourth quarter.
