Sagnarigu MP for the northern region, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, revealed that the majority of his colleagues in Parliament were very proud, contrary to public perception that they are fabulously wealthy.

According to him, the situation worsens when his colleagues leave Parliament saying themselves poor, a few years after leaving August House.

He attributed this turn of the situation to the financial pressures exerted on them by their constituents in Parliament.

Parliament seats always become a burning cake for those who aspire to serve their constituents because of the respect and good gifts that accompany the Honorable title in elections.

MPs are seen as fabulously wealthy because they have good salaries and are able to support their constituents who turn to them for financial badistance at the wheel of fuel-inefficient vehicles.

This perception turned out to be false, as the member for the Sagnarigu constituency said that the majority of current and former deputies are quietly languishing in poverty.

In an interview with Joy FM under the control of MyNewsGh.com, the noisy legislator explained that due to pressure from voters, some MPs are indebted.

According to him, deputies depend only on their ex-gratia to settle their debts in order to avoid any embarrbadment, which leaves them nothing to support themselves and their families.

– I can tell you that the lives of many former deputies is not something to tell, many have left the Parliament and have become destitute … I can tell you that when deputies are still active in offices , the kind of pressures that they undergo constituents is unimaginable, it leaves a large majority in debts. Sometimes, what they will get for free will be used to pay off their debts, leaving them nothing to look after their families, "he said.

A.B.A Fuseini lamented that they are financially committed to helping others at funerals, weddings and house building leaving them with no resources.

"Our policy is becoming more and more monetized, to the point that pressure is being put on MPs to provide anything. I'm telling you that, as we speak, members of Parliament are supposed to build houses for people in certain constituencies, they will ask you for cement, roofing sheets, wood, they will even ask you for sand, in addition to the fees. tuition, funerals, weddings, personal problems, just mention it. MEPs share all these responsibilities and how high their earnings are, "he said.

He suggested that even when their constituents' businesses collapse, MPs should provide them with money to start a business.

"MEPs badume all these responsibilities and how much they earn," he asked.
