Is the farewell to the big goal now?

The sanctions imposed by the United States against Huawei have had negative consequences: according to media reports, the Chinese manufacturer had to reduce its production of smartphones. From his big goal, Huawei seems at least for the moment to say goodbye.

In the first quarter of 2019, Huawei increased its smartphone sales by 50%. While Samsung and Apple were weakening, the company was becoming the No. 1 mobile phone market – until the entry into force of US sanctions and Huawei throws him a stick between the legs. While Huawei's audience was largely shrouded in silence for the boycott of the United States, it seems that, internally, he is already adapting to new events.

New number 1 in the smartphone market: Huawei doubt the big goal

According to the South China Morning Post, it is not certain that the goal of surpbading Samsung as the world's largest smartphone maker by the end of next year is still achievable. "It is too early to say if we can achieve this goal," said Zhao Ming, president of Huawei's subsidiary, Honor, about US sanctions against the manufacturer.

In mid-May 2019, US President Donald Trump put Huawei on a "blacklist" prohibiting US companies from doing business with Huawei. As a result, several companies have established a commercial relationship with Huawei, including Google and the ARM chip developer.

Huawei smartphone production reduced

At the same time, outsourcing manufacturer Foxconn apparently reduced production of Huawei smartphones. According to the South China Morning Post, however, it is not yet clear whether production will be reduced only temporarily or if it will be reduced in the longer term. It remains to be seen whether and to what extent the decline in production also affects the market launch of the Mate 30 Pro, scheduled for autumn.
