Accra, June 3, GNA – Mr. Henry Quartey, the
Deputy Minister of Defense and MP for Ayawaso Central organized a large iftar for
Muslims in the constituency to promote peace and unity.
The Iftar is an annual event organized by
the minister, who symbolizes the fast break with a meal to end the daily
to fast in the month of Ramadan.
The event offered about 3000 Iftar packages
and Eid-ul-Fitr special packages for Muslims.
Mr. Quartey, speaking at the event, said that
Iftar was to support the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan.
He said that self-control was the ultimate
value of Ramadan that every Muslim is supposed to achieve with the will of God
consciousness as a key to peace, adding that this creates
tolerance and cooperation.
The ability to resist provocations and
good judgment largely depends on the person's ability to retain his or her
himself, he says.
"And so, once a person goes through Ramadan
with all the sincerity required, we would expect that such a person would apply the
value of restraint in respect of human beings and the community
as a whole, "he said.
Mr. Quartey said that development flourishes in peace
and urged practitioners of religion to show peace through their
actions and inactions.
He said that the month of Ramadan is full of
compbadion and forgiveness and called on Muslims to show compbadion towards the
in society and ask forgiveness to increase their good deeds.

The celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr would be uneventful and avoided any form of violence
and rather engage in initiatives that would bring development to the country.
Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Director
Chief Imam, expressed his gratitude to the Minister for the kind gesture he has shown
Muslim community and prayed for the blessings of Allah on him and the country.
He talked about the importance of the last 10
days and urged Muslims to reflect during this period and to ask the
blessings.
Abubakar Sidiq Ahmed, President of the
Planning Committee, also congratulated the Member for honoring the constituency with
gesture and prayed that the event next year will be even bigger.
