The international celebration of LGBTQ pride will be held in New York and Governor Andrew Cuomo wants millions of visitors to be warmly welcomed in this city that has been a leader in the fight for gay rights.

Cuomo announced the opening of the WorldPride Welcome Center in the West Village on Saturday, at the beginning of Pride Month.

The State of New York is hosting WorldPride on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the uprising at the Manhattan Stonewall Inn, which fueled the fire for a global LGBTQ movement.

Just a few steps away is the new Christopher Street Center, which features a chronological gallery tracing the progress made over the decades.

Today, in New York, Lauren Scala also reports new storms in the area and the sale of the "Sopranos" house.
