JORGINHO admitted that Chelsea fans were blaming him for the Blues' bad performance, saying he "would hate" seeing Maurizio Sarri go to Juventus.

The Italian boss has been tipped to replace Mbadimiliano Allegri in the Old Lady, despite his win in the Europa League and his top-four finish.

The 60-year-old stalwart from Stamford Bridge regularly takes him to his style of play this season. Jorginho is often the scapegoat of the legendary "Sarri-ball" philosophy.

The 27-year-old followed the Blues boss in west London from Napoli and they arrived the same day last July.

Jorginho said Sarri would betray his former club if he joined his rival, Juve, in Serie A.

The midfielder said: "He did a good job for Chelsea, there was some criticism, but finally we finished third, won a cup and lost another in the final.

"I think the season has been excellent and I would not like to see him go, and Napoli fans always have it in their hearts, so it's normal that they can get angry.

Jorginho had a tumultuous season in Chelsea, where he took revenge for replacing favorite Golo Kante, the public favorite, as a midfielder.

He added: "The criticism was probably due to the culture of football in England. People were not used to seeing a player like me in front of the defense.

"I read more about the game and my physical presence is less. For the fans, everything was very different and they blamed me when the results did not come.

"But eventually, I proved that they were wrong for me. In the Premier League, the intensity is much higher and the teams are not afraid to attack.

"That's why I had to defend a lot more than in Italy. The games are more open. In Serie A, this mentality is absent, some teams are already beaten and never believe in victory.

"This is one of the reasons why the big Italian teams have difficulties in the Champions League. In my case, I worked with players of a certain level who let me grow. "
