The largest coconut festival is scheduled to be held in Ghana from 24 to 26 September 2019 at the International Conference Center in Accra on the theme: Promoting Export Diversification Through a Robust Ghanaian Coconut Industry .
The International Coconut Festival – Ghana promises to be the largest and most captivating festival ever held in Ghana and the sub-region. This festival will bring together divergent and prominent actors from the coconut industry around the world, including; Canada, China and Southeast Asia, Africa and the Middle East in Ghana. This will potentially create huge traffic with a record of investors, coconut researchers and scientists supposedly invading Ghana at this inaugural event.
The launch will take place at the Palm Royal Beach Hotel on June 18 at 10 am.
The goal of this highly anticipated event is to provide a platform to connect and serve the Ghanaian community and other international participants through the development and promotion of coconut. The festivals will present mainly the different characteristics of the coconut tree, from the root to the leaves.
The objectives of the festival are:
First B2B forum on coconut
Exhibition of innovative companies and suppliers presenting their recent products and services.
Build direct exchanges between partners from North America, China, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Improve agricultural tourism with different tour operators around the world.
Forum for progressive speakers and researchers discussing relevant topics on the development and promotion of coconut.
Interestingly, the Canada Coconut Festival and Superfoods Expo; main foreign partner and mainstay of the first edition of the first international coconut festival – Ghana has reoriented this year an annual event for ten years in Canada to transport its entire team, investors, researchers and scientist in Ghana mammoth event with us.
This festival will essentially provoke a major international movement by moving the world to Ghana and publishing Ghana's coconut sector worldwide.
Why the International Coconut Festival – Ghana?
It will be remembered that, the President of the Republic of Ghana; HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama launched the Plantation Program for Export and Rural Development (PERD) on April 24, 2019 in Dunkwa On-Offing, Central Region. According to the PERD program, coconut is one of six tree crops promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Subsequently, within the business support unit of the PERD Strategic Pillars, the Africa Coconut Group, as a private sector entity, engaged the PERD to organize the first international festival of the PRDEP. coconut in Ghana and use this platform to promote and connect all local actors to the international market. This event will be a major step forward to facilitate the promotion and development of coconut as part of the PERD program.
Activities to mark the coconut festival:
The festival would include a number of activities, including:
Commercial and exhibition activities
Seminars and mentoring of university students to take advantage of the PERD program
Economic and Technical Negotiation Activities Networking Activities between Cities and Universities Sisters Networking Folklore, Celebrations and Cultural Shows from Ghana
Visit to the coconut farm
Tree planting by the Minister of Tourism, the Minister of Agriculture and the Mayor of WADA at the beach, followed by a coconut jam.
