How to install iOS 13 beta now

[ad_1]

Apple revealed on Monday iOS 13, the next version of the operating system software installed on your iPhone ($ 1,000 at Amazon) and Ipod touch. Notice we did not say iPad? This is because the iPad now has its own operating system, called iPadOS. The updates for both platforms include a dark mode, new features in Messages, an updated Photos app and a new version of Google Maps. Apple has also announced MacOS 10.15, WatchOS 6 and TVOS 13. Once again, you can help Apple to test the new software through its beta program.

The first version of iOS 13 is only available to developers with a paid developer account, but Apple has announced that the public beta would be launched in July. Once the public beta is available, anyone wishing to participate in the test can do so.

The installation of the beta is a simple process and takes very little time. However, you must make sure that you have a backup and that you know that things will not always work.

But first, a warning

Over the years, the first beta version of an upcoming iOS version has stabilized. However, the software has not yet been released except in beta for a reason – it's not over. Applications will break, battery life is going to be horrible and frequent random reboots are not unknown.

You do not have to take our word for it, Apple's own developer portal contains the following warning:

Important note for thrill seekersIf you want to live on the perimeter and try the super new features of iOS 13, it is highly advisable to wait for the many bugfixes and improvements made to the public beta by the end of the month.

If you want to test iOS 13, get started knowing that you are testing software in beta and give yourself a favor with Apple, providing feedback via the Feedback app.

You will need to restore your device if you exit the beta program.

You can not (easily) go back

In addition to the will to deal with bugs and random problems, you should know that you can not easily go back to the current official version of iOS. This is possible, but you can not restore from a backup made with your iOS 13 device.

So with that in mind, it's a good idea to create a backup of your device because it's just before you go to the beta. The best way to do this is to use iTunes (RIP) and create an encrypted backup.

Which devices are supported?

According to Apple, the following devices may participate in the beta version of iOS 13 or iPadOS:

  • iPhone 6s or newer
  • iPad Air 2 or newer
  • All iPad Pro models
  • iPad 5th generation or newer
  • iPad Mini 4 or newer

What about the public beta?

At launch, the public beta will be available here. You will need to register your device and install the update over the air (OTA). We will update this message with more detailed instructions once the beta program is open.
