About a week ago, I spent $ 2 on Penultimate, an iPad app that lets you scribble notes on the screen and save them in notebooks. Maybe I did not have to, because tablet maker Wacom recently released its own free iPad app, Bamboo Paper, which basically does the same thing. Almost.

The application, dubbed the name of Wacom's consumer tablet lineup, and probably appeared to complement the recently released iPad stylus, lets you do almost the same thing as Penultimate: save notes, change the pen stroke and color, change the background paper (although with limited choices), send e-mail notes in PDF format and even change the color of the laptop cover. The biggest thing missing though: several notebooks.
