Liverpool reportedly asked to sign James Maddison this summer, according to reports.

The Reds join Manchester United in the race to conquer Maddison, valued at around £ 60 million by his club, Leicester City.

The Daily Star claims that Liverpool is one of the host clubs that have been in contact with the Foxes.

Liverpool will compete with Tottenham, Manchester City and United for Maddison's signature, but Leicester will only sell if his asking price is met.

Brendan Rodgers does not want to lose Maddison and the Foxs are not under any pressure to unload Maddison – under contract at King Power Stadium until 2023.

At 22, Maddison is one of the most exciting English talents in the Premier League and made 38 appearances for Leicester in all competitions last season.

Maddison scored seven times and provided seven badists in those appearances after joining Leicester from Norwich a year ago.

United has identified Maddison as a major target this summer and has watched it closely in recent months.

Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino were as impressed by Maddison as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in his first season in high flying with Leicester.
