Atletico Madrid is confident in confirming the signing of Chelsea's left-back Marcos Alonso.
The 28-year-old left-back traveled to Madrid on Friday, two days after witnessing Chelsea's win over the Europa League against Arsenal from the sideline in Baku.
Despite the imminent departure of Maurizio Sarri from Stamford Bridge, Alonso wants to go out and wait for the two clubs to agree.
Left-back Atletico's Lucas Hernandez will be heading to Bayern Munich this summer.
Veteran Felipe Luis, a former Chelsea player, is also expected to leave Wanda Metropolitano before the start of next season.

The Spanish club also loses Diego Godin in favor of Inter Milan and Juanfran, 34, who leaves the club.
Atletico has a lot of money to spend after agreeing to pay £ 80 million to Bayern for the sale of Hernandez. He targeted Nelson Semedo of Barcelona as a man who could fill the void.
The boss Diego Simeone wants the Portuguese back side to operate on the flank opposite Alonso.
Semedo reportedly asked Barca to examine Atletico's offer of 22 million pounds, although Catalans are not interested in selling.

They could be persuaded however if this can be agreed upon as part of an agreement to take Antoine Griezmann to the club.
Griezmann previously announced that he was leaving Wanda Metropolitano, with Barca leading the group for his signature.
In order to raise funds for a transfer, the Barca must first unload the players. Several players including players like Philippe Coutinho, Malcom and Denis Suarez have all been on sale.
Given that Semedo shares the leading role with Sergi Roberto this season, a contract counting for the player plus for Griezmann would be an ideal solution.
Barca estimates that Semedo is at £ 31m, while the Griezmann release clause will be £ 106m this summer.
