Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Pakistan and Australia have announced that Tuesday would be the last day of Ramzan and that the Eid-ul-Fitr would be held on Wednesday.

The date of Eid ul-Fitr generally varies from one country to another, depending on whether the moon has been spotted or not. The lunar cycle is used to calculate the Islamic era hijri and Ramadan this year was observed at a different time in India, the moon not being visible in some parts of India. As has been the case many times in the past, Eid is celebrated different days throughout the country.

Muslims in India, except those in Kerala and the districts of Udupi and Dakshin Kannada in Karnataka, will celebrate Eid or Eid ul-Fitr on June 5 if the moon is sighted on June 4.
