President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged young Muslims to mark this year's Aid-ul Fitr with caution.

"The nation needs you alive," he said

This was in a brief statement issued Wednesday to congratulate Muslims on the occasion of the end of Ramadan.

Muslims from across the country joined their international counterparts to observe 30 days of fasting, starting Monday, May 6.

The religious exercise, observed by the Prophet Muhammad in the Qur'an, ended at dawn on Wednesday, June 5th.

"I congratulate the Muslim Ummah of Ghana and, by extension, the entire Muslim population of the world for braving hunger and thirst for a month.

"In addition to the spiritual realization of the month, you deserve to be commended for the strict code of discipline that you have adhered to throughout this period."

President Akufo-Addo further stated that "our collective prayers" were accepted by Allah.

He also expressed his belief that Allah will "spread His grace, mercy, and peace over our nation, and make it great and strong."

He wished them "happy and peaceful celebrations for Eid ul-Fitr".

"To young people, I urge you to celebrate with caution."
