Divock Origi takes stock of the future of Liverpool after the achievements of the Champions League

Divock Origi is hoping his Champions League feats will win him a new contract in Liverpool.

Belgian striker Origi scored the second goal of the final against Tottenham on Saturday as Liverpool became European champion for the sixth time.

Origi also scored the winning goal against Barcelona in the last four meetings and allowed decisive strikes in the Premier League against Everton and Newcastle.

These goals saved the future of Anfield from the attacker. The current Origi contract expiring at the end of next season.

It has been suggested that he would only be offered a one – year extension, but he is about to be rewarded with a new long – term contract.

And the striker hopes to have positive discussions with the club in the coming weeks.

"The next few weeks we will have to sit down and see what the future holds for us," Origi told Sky Sports.

"I want to talk to the club and my staff internally before going public, but I hope the discussions between me, the club and my team will be positive."

He also thinks that Liverpool can go one step further in the Premier League next season after missing the title in Manchester City by one point.

"This is an important goal for us, we certainly want to take steps forward," he said.

"We have this year's experience, which we also used in the Champions League.

"It would be nice to win the Premier League, but for now, we just have to appreciate and badyze what we did, then reset the goals for the new season."

Origi's is badociated with the Belgian team for his next qualifying matches for Euro 2020 against Kazakhstan and Scotland.
