Somerset GCC declared "an individual died after fleeing" at a Taunton facility

An investigation was opened after an "unexpected death" in a temporary mental health facility.

The Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (GCC) stated that "an individual died after escaping" from the Taunton site.

A spokesman for the CCG said that the site, which was normally used as a "safe place", was currently being repaired and that it could not be used.

He added that the CCG "examined its temporary sites". No other details about the person have been published.

The details of the death were included in a report that was presented to the Adult Health Review Committee and the Somerset County Health Board.

The CCG spokesman said: "With respect to this particular event, the normal security location was not available and a temporary security site was therefore used on the same site, close to one neighborhoods."

The CCG did not disclose the details of the person, such as his age or bad, and did not confirm when the incident occurred.
