A report available for YEN.com.gh reported that factions of party leaders in Bole, in the Savannah area, were subjected to violence after the interruption of Eid's special prayers for Muslims and their annulment on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Starrfm.com.gh reported that the police had saved a chief and his family almost lynched by angry youths who had set fire to a building.

Chaos erupted after the imitation by the community leader of special prayers of Muslims to commemorate the festival of Islamic Eid Al-Fitir, after rival groups were planning to do so. attack on the prayer ground.

Another faction disapproved of the decision and went to attack the chief imam at his home and seized the symbolic staff in his place.

This provoked a reaction from the faction of the chief imam who also stormed the prayer ground to retake the staff. The security forces and alleged badailants fired warning shots and the vehicle of a rival sect leader was reportedly vandalized.

A small pandemon ensued and prayers were canceled when the faithful began to flee for safety.

The city's security forces quickly responded by dispersing the crowd and cleaning the streets to avoid reprisals.

An emergency curfew was imposed and residents were ordered to stay at the door.

The city of Bole has been under curfew since last year, when clashes erupted between the two chieftains.

The situation had been under control for almost six months now, and Chief Bukari, who had fled with his family to live in Damongo, decided to return to Bole to attend the Islamic festival.

The police have not yet made a statement about the resumption of violence.
