Chiefs and residents of Anfoega Dzana, North Dayi District, Volta Region, will build a public washroom with 12-unit toilets through community work to end the growing phenomenon of defecation in the area. Free air in the community.
During a social auditing program organized by the district office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), the community unanimously agreed to build the facility and promote cleanliness of the environment .
Some people made frantic efforts to build household toilets, but argued that public toilets were needed for visitors and at public gatherings.
The community has also agreed to build a clinic to promote good health, especially maternal and child health.
Concerns were also expressed about the increasing number of pedestrian tramplings caused by vehicle speed and the need to use the Ghana Highways Authority for devices to reduce vehicle speeds in communities in the region. .
Togbui Ahlih Kotoko IV, chief of the region, said that land was available for the projects and that funds raised during the Easter celebration in 2019 would be invested there.
Some community artisans stated that they were willing to work on the project for free or for a greatly reduced fee.
A seven-member company committee was set up to oversee the project, which would be overseen by the traditional authorities, the District Assembly and the NCCE.
The Social Audit Forum is part of the second phase of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Program, implemented by the NCCE with financial support from the European Union .
Adelaide Quarshie, director of the North Dayi District Commission, implored the community to stand up and protect themselves from corruption in society.
She also asked them to maintain a strict environmental cleanliness to prevent epidemics.
