The last American cruise ship left Cuba after Donald Trump's re-imposition of sanctions lifted by his predecessor, Barack Obama.
Mr. Trump wants to reduce the flow of funds into the communist country by limiting the number of travel visas granted and ending stopovers cruise ships.
The Treasury Department has banned educational group travel, cruise ship stops and private yacht tours by US citizens, as these are the most commonly used means by Americans to visit the island.

These sanctions are likely to weigh heavily on Cuba, which has attracted more than a quarter of a million US visitors in the first four months of 2019, nearly double the figure of the previous year.
Cubans and Americans were shocked and upset by the policy change. "It's all so sad, really," said Mario Diaz, a 19-year-old Cuban, "for Trump to come and make everything go back to the next day".
Some Americans did not know that politics was coming. "True or false, we do not know anything about it as American citizens. It was a total surprise for us, "told AFP pbadenger Linda Mensure, of Texas.

US tourism in Cuba has developed through an Obama era initiative easing a longstanding trade embargo against the communist regime in 2014.

Some restrictions have been maintained, preserving interactions with cultural exchanges, artistic exchanges and commercial relations.
Mr. Trump, however, reversed this policy by limiting relations with Cuba shortly after taking office.
