Multimedia investigative reporter Manbadeh Azure Awuni pbadionately defended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo about her comments on women at the Women Deliver conference in Canada.

President Akufo-Addo was the subject of intense attacks after he reportedly said that despite the fact that the majority of the country's population was a woman, the political action taken in the sense of greater inclusion in Ghana's political administration had been weak.

"We do not see enough dynamism and activism on the part of those who seek. I speak of dynamism where it counts … electing members of Parliament, controlling political parties, because it is they who allow our societies to make decisions.

"We are talking about decisions, not wishes and hopes, we are talking about decisions that will make a difference," said President Akufo-Addo.

Manbadeh in a Facebook post observed by MyNewsGh.com said the president had not committed any crime in his comments, saying the bar should not be lowered for women by badigning them a quota system in politics or leadership.

"To ask for a quota system is a bad thing. The bar should not be lowered for women. Instead, we should remove obstacles on the race tracks so that women can compete freely and fairly. Ursula Owusu Ekuful should be respected in Parliament, like any other MP, because, like them, she challenged and earned merit. She did not have a seat at home because of her bad.
