Former President John Dramani Mahama called for calm in Bole, Savanna region, following Wednesday's clashes.

The clash, which was sparked by a conflict between leaders, led to the destruction of property, including houses and vehicles.

In a statement issued Thursday by his office, Mr. Mahama, also a flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), called on the Bole chieftaincy factions to cooperate with the mediation committee set up by the traditional Gonja Council in order to resolve the conflict quickly. .

"We need peace to guarantee everyone's safety in Bole. Any disruption of peace will affect not only the protagonists, but also children and women, "he said.

Mr Mahama also noted that the sad evolution at Bole was not a good signal to send after the newly inaugurated Savanna region.
