Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Information Minister of Information, Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah

Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah called for bluffing minority MPs for claiming that the government had borrowed 80 billion Ghc in two years, claiming that they were malicious.

He said the figures released by the minority clearly show that they have a hidden agenda because they know that the NPP has never borrowed money to the tune of 80 billion Ghc, according to what that they claim.

Members of the minority parliament on Thursday accused the government of borrowing more than 80 billion Ghc during their last two years in office. They asked the government to show the projects carried out with the money borrowed.

However, Oppong Nkrumah reacted to the minority's allegations by saying that certain factors led to the increase in the stock of public debt and that the government's loans were not defined as such by the minority.

He added that some project loans had been guaranteed by the NDC administration but had been disbursed. The Information Minister said that the accumulated loan with interest had automatically resulted in an increase in the stock of debt.
