The fear of a possible terrorist attack in the country has left many Ghanaians exhausted, but national security has badured, there is nothing to worry about.

George Asiamah, director of the fight against terrorism and national security for national security, badured Ghanaians that his men and all security agencies did not sleep and did not take problems for granted.

He added that security agencies will make the country unattractive to terrorist groups who intend to exploit the porous borders of Ghana.

In an interview with Joy News' Kwesi Parker-Wilson, he said that Ghanaians were in good hands and that if they can not disclose every move they make, the public must be confident that a lot of work is being done .

"Security agencies are well awake, it's not all we put in the public domain, but Ghana is safe because we are working hard with our international partners", a- he added.

Over the last three days, the counterterrorism unit has met with various stakeholders in the north of the country, where the level of threat is high.

An emergency meeting was held on Friday, June 7, in Accra with religious leaders as part of a national strategy to enable them to detect threats of terror.

In the past two weeks, two men from neighboring Burkina Faso were arrested in the country with loaded rifles, one in the compound of a Catholic church while the service continued.

CoP Asiamah said that, together with the security measures taken, a comprehensive program to raise awareness among all Ghanaians of terrorism, threat detection and response, if any, is being deployed.

In any crime-fighting business, public cooperation is essential and security agencies are putting in place measures to achieve this, said COP Asiamah.

He added: "You must educate the population so that they know the nature of the threats and that they are sensitive and vigilant. If people are vigilant, then this is one of the surest ways to counter threats, but if people take things for granted, we will be caught off guard.

"We have an action plan and very soon we will be rolling out educational outreach programs in every region of the country … we will go to the nooks."

It is certain that once all the avenues that will help the terrorist acts are sealed and the country is transformed inappropriate for extremists, Ghana will not suffer any disturbance.
