New York beats FC Cincinnati

New York City FC qualified Thursday in fifth place in the New York Red Bulls with a 5-2 win over FC Cincinnati at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Eber scored twice for the hosts and there were goals for Alexandru Mitrita, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and Maximiliano Morález as New York took a fast lead and never allowed FC Cincinnati to return to the match.

Eber was also on the wrong score sheet as the Brazilian was one of two New York City FC players to score a goal!

Moralez pulled the strings all night and the Argentinian provided badistance for the second place of Eber, in the net goal, which was the choice of the peloton.

New York is undefeated in their last 10 games, winning five wins and five draws since their last loss to Toronto in late March.

A gulf is being created between the first six of the Eastern Conference and the last six. The Philadelphia Union leads the East with the Montreal Impact, DC United, Atlanta United FC, New York Red Bulls and New York City FC all within five points.

There is then a five point gap over Toronto FC, Orlando City SC and Chicago Fire. These three players, along with Columbus Crew SC and New England Revolution, are competing for the remaining playoff spot.

Only FC Cincinnati, which is not surprising for an expansion franchise, remains disconnected from the game by maintaining the conference standings.

New York City FC is 12/1 to win the MLS Cup with Los Angeles FC 9/4 and Atlanta United 9/1.
