A student from the University of South Florida will be the first woman with autism to participate in the Miss Florida contest.

Rachel Barcellona will represent Manatee River at the parade later this month in Lakeland.

According to a blog post from the Els for Autism Foundation, Barcellona was Miss Florida International 2016 and Miss American National 2018. The author of the article claims that she is considered a "true model" in his community.
