Bad news guys – we officially know that we are in the wrong place because it has just been announced that the right place will end after the next season.
The Heaven / Hell comedy, starring Kristen Bell, Ted Danson and Jameela Jamil, will close for good while the Cockroach team will finally determine its place in the afterlife.
Show creator Mike Schur made the announcement on Twitter today, saying that the beloved series had just arrived at the end of its history.
He wrote, "After The Good Place was chosen for season two, the editorial team and I began to chart the trajectory of the series as best we could.
"Given the ideas we wanted to explore and the pace at which we wanted to present them, I began to feel that four seasons – just over 50 episodes – were the ideal lifespan."
"Sometimes, in recent years, we have been tempted to go beyond the four seasons, but above all because making this show is a rare and creative joy."
'At the end of the day, we do not want to trample the water just because the water is warm and pleasant. As such, the fourth season to come will be our last, "he then confirmed.
Thanking the network and the production team for helping to create their "work and dedication to a very strange idea," he added, "We ask the question very frequently, in this show, what do we owe to others?
"The answer for me is this: I owe you all so much."
Jameela Jamil, who plays Tahani, a social actor who is very stuck in the series, was also one of the first members of the cast to share the news, writing: "YOU HEARD CORRECT, This season is the FINAL @nbcthegoodplace because Mike Schur is the most expensive tennis leader ever and wanted to leave you at the right time and in the right way.
"We love you and we hope you like our goodbye."
More: The right place
At least they will leave us with a series of endless memes, the memory of Ted Danson's floss and a hilarious way of looking at philosophy in a cutthroat way.
The Good Place returns later this year on NBC in the United States and Netflix in the United Kingdom.
