Sushil Ram, Director of the Social Policy Development Program at the Commonwealth Secretariat, said that the Secretariat was firmly committed to forming an alliance of young Commonwealth entrepreneurs in Africa (CAYE-Africa).
Speaking before Salomon Adjei in Accra at the end of a youth policy review workshop, Mr Sushil said that one of the key challenges facing young people in most countries, especially in Africa, is the high unemployment rate and underemployment and that the Commonwealth is determined to avoid this situation. to help Member States strengthen policy frameworks on youth, employment and entrepreneurship to create an environment conducive to the success of start-ups.
In May this year, young entrepreneurs from 17 different countries gathered in Tanzania to develop a framework and roadmap for the formation of the new CAYE Africa, which is expected to be officially launched in six months. This forum will provide a platform for young people. entrepreneurs to network, share business ideas, create partnerships and exchange in all Commonwealth countries.
Key findings include the selection of an interim leader to put in place an advocacy policy framework and to hold a major summit open to all young entrepreneurs from Commonwealth countries in Africa.
The Commonwealth is very committed to ensuring the success of these new leaders by providing them with all the logistics they need, including partnerships, funding, mentoring and access to decision-makers, among others. -he declares.
Sushil, however, applauded all the young entrepreneurs and encouraged them to join the CAYE Africa network because it brought them huge benefits, including access to the global market, the Commonwealth being very interested in intra-Commonwealth trade, among others .
