Funeral Freddie Starr – Family asks bereaved to wear red as a tribute to the Teddy Bear Jacket

Freddie Starr's family revealed the details of the funeral after a fan paid for him to be repatriated to the UK.

The comedian and singer of pop band Merseybeat the Midniters was found dead at his Spanish home on May 9th.

Starr's family asked grieving people and fans to celebrate his life at his funeral next week by wearing red ties or roses to reflect the color of his favorite red Teddy Boy jacket made famous by his television and theater.

A 76-year-old service for Freddie, who died of a heart attack last month, will be held Thursday, June 13 at Prescot Parish Church in Prescot, Merseyside.

Two of Freddie's four ex-women – Donna and Sophie – are expected to attend, along with some of her six children.

"Freddie Starr's extended family wishes to thank his many friends and fans for their kind and heartwarming words following his sad death last month.

"To confirm Freddie's funeral will be held on Thursday, June 13 at the Prescot Parish Church, Prescot, Merseyside, at 1 pm.

"It will be a private family service, but fans are welcome to pay tribute to them outside of the church.

"To reflect Freddie's love for colorful theater and television costumes, participants are asked to wear either a red tie or a red rose – the color of his famous and favorite Teddy Boy jacket.

"Instead of flowers, Freddie's family is asking for donations to be made in his memory at Alder Hey Children's Charity.

"His family would also like to express his thanks to Funeral Director Michael Fogg for all his help and support during this difficult time."

Then the 76-year-old comedian, who died of a heart attack at his home in Costa del Sol last month, will be buried next to his father and mother.
