The Arsenal star, Mesut Ozil, and his wife, Amine Gulse, marked their wedding with a gesture to help children around the world.
The couple, who got married earlier this week, is paying 1,000 children for life-changing surgery.
Ozil has chosen to stop receiving traditional gifts and has invited his clients to donate to a charity that funds operations for children in burn-affected developing countries, club feet, cleft lip and palate. .
In 2014, OZil donated its 2014 World Cup winnings – around £ 240,000 – to allow 23 Brazilian children to be operated on.
Ozil says that as a professional footballer, he finds himself in a privileged position and has invited anyone who wishes and can help support a very special project that is important to his wife and his heart.
He says he and his wife will cover the surgery costs of 1,000 needy children.
