PARIS – The lawyers of the former director of Renault, Carlos Ghosn, say they are surprised that the board of directors of the French car manufacturer starts legal proceedings against Ghosn.
Renault announced last week that an internal audit of its Nissan partner had revealed dubious personal expenses, in the amount of $ 12.5 million, that would have been related to Ghosn in their holding company based in the Nederlands. Renault has recommended a joint legal action with Nissan in the Netherlands. He also suggested ordering Ghosn to reimburse some expenses to the company.
On Sunday, Ghosn's French lawyers said Ghosn had not received the audit but offered to provide explanations.
Ghosn was arrested in November and again in April in Japan for charges of financial misconduct. He denies the claims.
