Matthijs de Ligt revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo had told him to join Juventus after the Netherlands' 1-0 defeat against Portugal in the League of Nations final.
The 19-year-old defenseman, captain of Ajax for his first national double in 17 years, is one of the most sought-after players in Europe. Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona are fighting for his signature this summer.
Juventus was also closely linked to De Ligt and his conversation with Ronaldo following Portugal's victory on Sunday night immediately rattled the languages.
The two men shared a brief joke before Ronaldo gave De Ligt a pat on the head and the young man uncovered what had been said during their conversation.

Asked if Ronaldo had invited him to join Juventus, De Ligt told a Dutch publication OUR: "It could be true.

When in a hurry, De Ligt admitted that Ronaldo had asked him to join Juventus, stating, "I was a little shocked, so I laughed.
"But I did not say anything.

De Ligt, who reportedly received £ 350,000 a week to join United, said he would make a decision about his future after a short break.
