The Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the second largest in its history and shows no sign of being under control for the time being.

According to the World Health Organization, the virus infected more than 2,000 people and killed 1,367 people as of June 5, 2019.

The epidemic reported nearly a decade ago is the cause of the 2014-2016 epidemic that affected Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia in West Africa, killing more than 11,300 people.
