Philippe Coutinho admits that his form was not up to the requirements of Barcelona.

The former Liverpool star has struggled with the Nou Camp since his transfer of 140 million pounds in January 2018.

Reports suggest that Coutinho may already be on its way this summer although there have been no bids, with the PSG appearing as the most likely destination.

There has also been talk of a return to the Premier League, but Coutinho does not seem to be too enthusiastic after his family has failed to settle in Merseyside.

Any decision on his future will probably come after the Copa America, but the 26-year-old admits that the criticism addressed to him is deserved.

Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona reacts

"I did not have a good season, it was below what I expected from myself and what the fans expect from me," Coutinho said.

"But you can only gain confidence by working hard, that's what I did and what I will continue to do."

The PSG skipper and his Brazilian teammate Thiago Silva also criticized Barcelona fans for treating Coutinho.

And he believes that his country sees it at its best, far from the camp of Nou.

"Coutinho had a difficult year in Barcelona, it was demanding and we laughed a lot," Silva added before Brazil's Copa America opener against Bolivia this weekend.

"But here in this team he is our point of reference, especially when Neymar is not available.

"In the two friendlies we played, he was the best player on the pitch, not only because of his help and goals, but also because of his defensive work, he is happy again."
