The Spanish giant Real became known for the policy of "galacticos" made famous by Perez during his first stint as president of the club in 2000.
After being chosen as the successor of Lorenzo Sanz in Los Blancos, the 72-year-old has significantly strengthened the Real team by recruiting eight leading players in Claude Makelele, Luis Figo, Zidane, Sergio Ramos, Ronaldo Nazario, David Beckham, Michel Owen and Robinho.
Real's new transfer policy of signing expensive, high quality superstars known as galacticos becomes synonymous with Perez, who in his first term as president of the Giants of La Liga acquired least a world-clbad superstar every year in the window of transfers.
Perez's first term as club president lasted six years (2000 to 2006). Real won two league titles, two Spanish Super Cups, a UEFA Champions League title and an Intercontinental Cup (predecessor of the FIFA Club World Cup).

The second wave of the galactic policy began in June 2009, when Perez was announced again president of Real.
The Spaniard continued his celebrity galactic policy, bringing Ronaldo from United for a record € 94 million, before narrowing the record with the acquisition of Bale four years later at Tottenham Hotspur.
Welshman Bale, who joined the club in 2013 with the Premier League Spurs, joined the club in 2013, under a tantalizing deal that was worth 101 million euros (1.1 billion rand ).
Hazard, who ended his seven-year stint at Chelsea to join Zidane's team, climbs to second place on the podium following his transfer of 100 million euros (1.6 billion rand) in Real.
The third goal is Ronaldo, the scorer of the club record, who arrived at Santiago Bernabeu with a six-year contract for a cost of 94 million euros (a club record).
