Chelsea is in talks with Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez and Stamford Bridge is eager to announce the appointment of the Spanish coach in place of Maurizio Sarri.
Benitez is still under contract with Newcastle, but this deal expires at the end of June and Chelsea is seeking his signature and avoiding losing it to the benefit of other litigants.
Newcastle is in the middle of a takeover bid. Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan has offered about $ 445 million to purchase the club from its controversial owner, Mike Ashley.
But Benitez may well end up leaving St. James's Park, the new owners badessing the possibility of approaching other targets, including former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
The current manager of Chelsea, Sarri, led the club in the UEFA Europa League last season, but is expected to return to Serie A to join Juventus, champion of the Scudetto.

However, it is understood that Chelsea wants to lock his new manager before releasing Sarri to Juve.
Italian outlet Tuttosport says Benitez is ready for an "impending" meeting with Chelsea officials to resolve any issues and finalize an agreement to bring the Spanish boss to Stamford Bridge.
Benitez previously served as acting director of the London club for five months after replacing Roberto Di Matteo in November 2012.
During his short time, he helped the Blues reach third place in the Premier League and lead them to victory in the UEFA Europa League.
