A title that has been widely shared on social media can give a misleading idea of what is really going on.
The article, entitled "Hundreds of Illegal Ebola Victims Stricken in the Congo and Thrown Into the Streets of San Antonio", talks about a recent move by Congolese immigrants to San Antonio, Texas, where they arrested at the southern border of the United States.
In fact, two facts in a title can be misleading.
THE QUESTION:
Hundreds of Congo's immigrants found themselves in the streets of San Antonio, TX? Is Congo currently "hit by the Ebola virus" and are these people at risk?
THE ANSWER:
It is true that Congolese immigrants were stopped by Customs and Border Protection as they were crossing the US Southwest Frontier. It is also true that CBP transported a few hundred of these immigrants to San Antonio, TX.
The World Health Organization has also declared and monitored an outbreak of Ebola in Congo.
But it's important to know that CBP is testing and monitoring all immigrants for the Ebola virus and that they have found no trace of the virus on the southern border.
WHAT WE HAVE FOUND:
Three separate customs and border patrol reports indicate that the agency has arrested hundreds of African immigrants who have crossed our southern border in recent months.
On May 30, they arrested the largest immigrant group in 2019, made up of immigrants from African countries, including Angola, Cameroon, and Congo.

But that's the second fact that made the title misleading.
The World Health Organization reported a great deal last month on an Ebola outbreak in Congo.
It is true that Congolese refugees came from a country affected by an epidemic of Ebola. This is the second fact here.
But if you stop there, you miss an important context.
