"변화 적절히 대응" … 인하 가능성 시사
The governor of the Bank of Korea is changing tone, referring to a reduction in interest rates.
In a speech delivered on Wednesday to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the central bank, Lee Ju-yeol, head of the BOK, said that it might be necessary to take what he called "appropriate measures" , which is widely interpreted as an opening to the reduction of rates.
At a meeting of economic ministers held on the same day, Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki also said that the trade war between the United States and China posed a downside risk.
He said he would try to contribute to the growth of Korean exports of five major consumer goods, including cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, by providing financial and commercial support … to help outbound shipments reach $ 35 billion by 2022.
