Liverpool fans revealed what they wanted to see when the 2019/20 Premier League matches were unveiled this morning – and sent a message to Manchester City.

We asked fans of our live Reds blog what was the ideal start and end of season, as well as other questions about the schedule.

And in a statement of intent for what might be another intense title race, 9.8% of Kopites want to start the homegrown campaign for Pep Guardiola's team.

Perhaps less surprising, the second most popular choice (8.3%) was a clash between Anfield and Sheffield United, newly promoted, to kick off.

But very close behind was an opening match of the day a way in the city (8.2%).

Regarding the last day, the winner was Sheffield United at home (15.6%).

But once again, Man City at home was up – 15.3% of fans anticipated a potentially decisive confrontation at the end of the season.

With regard to the beginning or the end of the season, the fans were much more anxious to finish at Anfield.

97.6% said they want the last home game, while 65.1% have expressed their preference for a start of L4.

26.8% said the first match they would look for in the match list is City at Home.

Manchester United at home came next (25.9%), followed by City away (22.9%).

Fans were asked about the three teams that had just come out of the championship and the one they would like to see at the Liverpool shelter early in the campaign.

Aston Villa was the main threat (54.3%), followed by Norwich City (30.5%) and Sheffield United (15.2%).

The meetings are published at 9 am this morning and you can follow our live coverage and our dedicated badysis throughout the day.
