The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has eased fears of Ghanaians following recent threats of terrorism in the country.

The insurance comes after a meeting on national security held on Monday, June 10, 2019, which revealed that the likelihood of Ghana suffering a terrorist attack is infinitesimal.

A statement signed by the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said Ghana's security and risk profiles remain unchanged.

"The meeting concluded that there was no exploitable intelligence or imminent threat to Ghana. Ghana's security and risk profiles remain largely unchanged despite recent events in the subregion ", Oppong Nkrumah noted.

The statement also urged local and foreign nationals to live their lives without hesitation as efforts were made to reorganize the various security agencies to prevent any terrorist attacks.

"The country's security apparatus continues to be reorganized and vigilant to deal with any major threat to security in the jurisdiction. Ghanaians, foreign residents and visitors are encouraged to continue their normal lives without fear, but are also encouraged to remain aware of safety, as always ", he further stated.

Terrorist threats in Ghana are focused on the growing threat of terrorist attacks against churches in the subregion.

Australia is the last country to have updated its overseas travel tips on Ghana in seven days, advising its citizens not to use Ubers, taxis or other means of public transportation in the country.

Already, the United Kingdom (UK) has updated its travel advice to British nationals traveling to Ghana to warn of possible terrorist attacks.

The Government of Canada has warned its citizens of potential violent crimes in Ghana following the alleged abduction of two of its citizens in Kumasi.
