The first Ghana-EU-Business Forum; strong impetus for private investment and sustainable jobs

Ghanaian and European entrepreneurs, national and international financial institutions, Ghanaian and European officials and ministers will meet to discuss for two days ways to improve the business climate, reduce the risks badociated with private investment and, hence stimulate private investment to create sustainable jobs in Ghana. , thus contributing to Ghana's vision beyond aid.

Mr Jyrki Katainen, Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for Employment, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, will participate in the Business Forum with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic from Ghana. Vice-President Katainen will also explore the economic heart of the capital and meet local, European and international economic players.

The Business Forum will provide entrepreneurs, for the first time, with the opportunity to obtain first-hand information on EIP guarantees available to them in Ghana in order to plan and improve the planning of their investments in the country. A trade fair on the sidelines of the forum will allow European and Ghanaian exhibitors and chambers of commerce to present their activities. In addition, it will be possible to have intensive private contacts during Business to Business (B2B) meetings.

The forum illustrates the new Africa-Europe Alliance for Sustainable Investment and Employment, announced by the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, in September 2018.

It will concretely illustrate the paradigm shift on EU-Africa relations and shared interests, and capitalize on the financial tools of the European External Investment Plan to stimulate strategic investment and strengthen private sector participation.

The Forum is also fully committed to the Government of Ghana's "Ghana Beyond Aid" agenda, which aims to unlock economic potential and turn the Ghanaian economy into greater self-sufficiency.

The various sessions, keynote addresses and interactive debates will focus on the priority areas of particular importance to the Ghanaian business environment, namely sustainable energy and connectivity, micro, small and medium enterprise finance and agriculture.

These areas of the future will be the backbone of Ghana's growth and the creation of sustainable jobs; as recently stated Mr. Jyrki Katainen: "These jobs will enable the young African population to exploit its full potential".
