Reverend Peter Adegoke Adewuyi, a priest of the Methodist Church, was arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command after allegedly falsifying his own kidnapping for the purpose of collecting ransom from of church members and family.

The Nation reports that the 31-year-old priest stayed in an Ado-Ekiti hotel and hid in public view, from where he and his accomplice were calling members of the public to pay a ransom for his release.

Reverend Adegoke alongside his accomplice, Sunday Oluwadare Adewole, who was helping the priest to call the unsuspecting public to demand ransom, will be brought to court as soon as further investigation is conducted.

When the "kidnappers" demanded a "ransom" of 3 million crowns, the church found itself in extreme confusion over how the money would be collected to get their pastor the den of "kidnappers".

The false kidnapping was however broke out by the police after arresting the other person on the phone. The phone with the GSM phone number 09078589516 was used to claim a ransom of 3 million Nairas (50,000 GHC) to family members and the church. The priest was also found near First Bank, in the Okeyinmi district, at Ado Ekiti, where he went to get the ransom.

During his interrogation by the police, Adewuyi confessed to organizing his own "kidnapping" and claimed a ransom of 3 million Nairas (50 GHC).

The priest also admitted to having stayed in a hotel during the period of his voluntary disappearance from the public.

The mother of three was arrested along with two of her alleged accomplices, Anthony and Ezema, who united her to organize the false saga of kidnappings. The trio was able to receive 500,000 NK from Chizoba's bank account for ransom money, before being exhausted and apprehended by members of the Police Intelligence Intervention Team.
