Twenty ambitious young teenagers entered the corridors of inventors after successfully building their own four-seater plane to fly over Africa.
The long-term goal of some 20 ambitious inventors who have built their own four-seat aircraft is to travel Africa, covering more than 10,000 km, in countries such as Namibia, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
Coming from South Africa, the group will also cross Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and Eritrea before their final destination in Egypt.
They will then make stops in Uganda, Rwanda and Zambia.
The general objective is to travel from Cape Town to Cairo, Egypt, with a support plane flying with the team.

Supported by an aviation awareness initiative called U-Dream Global, the program aims to inspire young South Africans.
Dream Global's pilot and teenager, Megan Werner, told IOL that: "When we started to build this plane, we did not know anything about aviation. We had to learn all the tools and learning to read the technical drawings was also a challenge. "

Warner says: "We will also give inspiring conferences to people from different destinations and offer them a first experience on the plane, because many of these people have never seen or even been on a plane before."
This is not the first time young people in Africa have taken initiatives to build planes and cross the continent, something that until recently was not a common manufacturing comfort zone for Africans.
In 2018, Patricia Mawuli-Porter, the only flight instructor in West Africa, taught girls and young people in Ghana and the United States how to build planes.
She has been twice invited by the AirVenture aircraft of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and once, she has helped a young team of young Americans with no experience in building aircraft to to bademble a Zenith CH750 aircraft in a record week.
"There are many young people who, when they see me, give hope.
This motivates them to learn harder because they believe that women really have something in front of them ", she says.
Mawuli-Porter is the co-founder of the now-defunct Medicine On The Move (MoM), a local NGO that collaborates with the Aviation Academy to transport doctors, supply medical supplies and services, and health education in rural communities around the world. the length and breadth of Ghana.
