On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, the Ghana National Union of Students paid a working visit to the office of the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Mr. Mahamadu Bawumia, at the Ghana Jubilee Memorial House.

Discussions focused on ways to preserve the safety of students in the face of increasing insecurity resulting from kidnappings, government sanitation measures and recent floods in the country, the digitization program being implemented. by the government and how NUGS can engage with society. The Vice President was delighted to welcome the NUGS delegation led by our President, Tinkaro Asare Osei.

Addressing the urgent issue of insecurity and the recent wave of kidnappings, Mr. Tinkaro Asare Osei said: "At a time when insecurity is about to impinge on peace In our country, it is prudent to partner with the government to find strong, proactive and sustainable solutions so that we can protect our constituents, the future of Ghana.

The president of NUGS congratulated the government for the quick action taken by the security services regarding the kidnapping of Canadian volunteers.

He expressed his confidence in the government's ability to solve the security problems facing the country and urged the security services to put in place appropriate measures for the return of the three girls abducted from Takoradi.

Reflecting on the theme of sanitation, NUGS President, Mr Tinkaro, praised the government's vision of making Accra, Africa's cleanest city by 2020. It has stressed that this vision was only possible with the maximum cooperation of the Ghanaian people, and committed to the will of the NUGS to do its part to achieve this patriotic goal.

The union congratulated the vice president on the digital address system, the national ID card and other wonderful projects run by his office.

Asare Osei presented some challenges, recommendations and possible partnerships between the Ghanaian student body and the government. He commended the government for the work done in the field of education and said that NUGS was available to support the government's efforts to provide education to all Ghanaians.

His Excellency Mr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, encouraged the NUGS delegation to continue to serve the Ghanaian student and said his government was ready to work with NUGS to spread the message of Increasing sanitary standards to achieve our common goal: Accra being the cleanest city in Africa by 2020.
