Five Guys won my tasting test of 5 popular hamburgers. Here's why.

All hamburgers are equal, but some are more equal than others.

I compared Wendy's single Dave's Single, McDonald's Big Mac, Burger King Whopper, Shake Shack Burger and Five Guys cheeseburger in a burger showdown. all the time.

I judged hamburgers based on their visual appeal, the quality of their meat, their taste and their juicy juices. Each burger was beautiful in its own way, but Five Guys finally won the contest.

Here's why:

The Five Guys cheeseburger is a double, unless you ask for a small cheeseburger, which means that the signature sandwich is a big piece of meat by default. It is big, heavy and multicolored, even if the bun is a bit flat.

The "all the way" toppings provide all the sauces, mushrooms and onions sauteed, crisp green pickles, a slice of tomato and a few lettuce leaves. All the toppings were fresh and tasty, but the bright green gherkins were truly distinguished by their crisp and memorable acidity.

I could sing the praises of Five Guys' fat, muscular and wet patties down to the grave. They were a little more cooked than usual, but I can just ask them to cook them pretty rare next time. A pressure test confirmed what I already knew: the beef was jam-packed with delicious gravy.

A thick, generous slice of cheddar cheese was melted into the slightly charred grooves of the pancakes, which then glued them together to form the team of salty brands par excellence. Packed with generous veggies and sandwiched between two sweet and pleasurable breads, Five Guys beef and cheese could not hurt.

In total, Five Guys made a hearty and tasty clbadic burger with a well-balanced taste and fully customizable quality ingredients. Even though the other burgers have been great in their own way, I'll be back to Five Guys when I'll want a well done clbadic burger.
