reErby will require a £ 4 million compensation fee from Frank Lampard as Chelsea prepares to take a formal approach.
Lampard is becoming Chelsea's main contender when Maurizio Sarri's departure is confirmed, as the former club midfielder is in sight for a moving return.
The 40-year-old has won three Premier League titles, four FA Cup and Champions League matches during his stint at Stamford Bridge. His goal now is to take back the reins of his position after 12 months.
But the Derby are determined to play hard in all potential negotiations and are protected by a high compensation amount, which increases in cost if a Champions League club makes an approach.
Lampard has another two years at Pride Park and would need £ 4 million to take him away from the championship club.
