Tema police are currently looking for an accomplice in an unsuccessful robbery attempt against Community 4 on Wednesday.

The accomplice, whose details remain unknown, appeared with Awal Mohammed, a 28-year-old Malian, who tried to rob a mobile money vendor after shooting his leg with a Glock pistol.

According to the public relations officer of the Tema Regional Police, Joseph Benefo Darkwa, the seller sounded the alarm and urged the residents to pursue the suspects.

The accomplice, feeling the danger, fled, leaving his motorcycle bearing registration number M-19-GR 1017 used during the operation.

"The luck, however, escaped Awal when the locals stopped him and lynched him by the way," he said.

In an interview with Adom News, he said the police received a distress call around 4 pm

"We received a distress call indicating that two young men wielding a gun had attacked and shot at a vendor in the leg and that one of the suspects was being lynched. The seller was transported to a nearby health center, "he said.

When he arrived at the scene, the police took Awal, who was unconscious, to the Accra Police Hospital, but was declared dead upon his arrival.

"The Awal suspect was declared dead on his arrival. His body has since been sent to the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy, "DSP Darkwa said.

At the scene, the police recovered a Glock pistol with six rounds of ammunition, a face mask and a motorcycle.

At the same time, DSP Darkwa has issued a call to residents to bring to the police vital information that can lead to the arrest of the accomplice.
