15 Answers E3 2019 Gave Us

[ad_1]

Well, E3 has arrived and gone, another year again, a host of shows, crowded convention halls and gaming demonstrations. We had more questions this year than usual for the biggest gaming convention of the year. Has any of them got an answer? We will take a look.

Here are the main issues that we are concerned about and hopefully will be answered by E3 2019.

What are the new generation console packages from Sony and Microsoft?

Sony was missing from the series and although we expected them to post information during the broadcast, they did not. So, we only have the details we already know about the PS5.

Microsoft, on the other hand, made Project Scarlett its final show during its press conference. What do we know about this? Well a lot of numbers. Supposedly, it offers a resolution of 8,000 pixels, 120 frames per second and four times more powerful than the current generation. We also know that Microsoft seems to be also engaging in streaming games. They announced a game for their new Scarlett project: Halo Infinity.

It's still not much information, but it's more than we had. Microsoft announced that the Scarlett project will be released in the 2020 holiday and we are almost certain that the PS5 will be released at about the same time.

If Sony does not go, what will they do?

Absolutely nothing … and it's a kind of genius. The more we think of Sony's projects, the more we realize that they let their competitors do the marketing.

Think about it for a moment. Before E3, they released a new trailer for Grounding of death this gave us more information about the game than ever before. This game? Exclusive PS4.

One of the biggest games of the show was the Remake of Final Fantasy 7. This game? Exclusive PS4.

And it's not like Sony was idle during the conference. Whenever a new game advertised on multiple platforms on PS4 was released, they were downloading a trailer. Shenmue III, Tales of Arise, Ring of Elden, Legion of guard dogs, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Trials of Mana, Ghost Recon Stop Point, same indie scrunchies like Cris Tales, all these names arrive on the PS4. Heck, Sony has even shown trailers that have not even been able to participate in press conferences, such as a new Persona 5 Royal trailer which, by the way, is another PS4 exclusive.

The Sony range was absolutely superimposed, but it was presented by people other than Sony. There have been more press conferences than ever before this year, and each of them, including Microsoft and Nintendo, has introduced a product from Sony.

In other words, the E3 press conferences on the first part are places where you can show games for the first part, and Sony did not have many titles to present for the first time this year. The one that interests us, Grounding of death, got a trailer, and all the awesome third party stuff was shown at third party conferences. The E3 has pbaded and Playstation users are not worried about the lack of content.

Our guess? Sony will be back next year to show the PS5.

Will Microsoft enter the game of virtual reality?

It does not look like that. VR had no place at the Microsoft press conference and it does not appear that they will soon be supporting VR headsets on their Xbox platform.

Is it really the second generation of VR?

So we did not really see any software that needed the power of second-generation VR headsets, but what's interesting is that we saw a lot more VR games than we had in another year. In fact, VR had its own conference hosted by VR Uploads and many games in other press conferences had VR modes or were full VR games. So, even though I would not say it's really the "second generation" of virtual reality, it's clear that virtual reality is here to stay.

What will Nintendo do to compete?

Breath of nature II. That's enough.

I am kidding. Nintendo went to rub shoulders with software this year, highlighting titles like Luigi's Mansion 3, Link's Awakening, The pbadage of animals: new horizons, Fire emblem: Three houses, Super Mario Maker 2, a host of amazing third-party titles, and of course smash DLC. To be honest, nothing showed that Nintendo was unexpected. In fact, they mostly walked the ground that we had already traveled in recent years. However, even without a new title to show, they still had one of the strongest software queues at the show.

So many years ago, it was not Nintendo's year. Maybe next year, the year of the release of the PS5 and the Scarlett project, will be the year of Nintendo to expel us from the water. However, in the absence of new ads, they will have to hold a lot of existing promises, such as Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4or they will have to have a whole year filled with new software announcements to allow us to continue.

Is the 3DS dead?

Kind of? Nintendo has not announced for the 3DS, so the support is largely over. However, Limited Run Games had a ton of 3DS games to announce. These are all physical versions of independent games already released, but hey, it's something.

Fun fact, they also announced the last game of Vita. Do you remember the Vita? Yes we neither.

Has progress been made on Nintendo's AAA titles?

Nope! We heard no noise Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4, or Shin Megami Tensei V. However, we have seen a lot of progress on the other titles recently announced by Nintendo and we have obtained official confirmation from Breath of nature II. Where are these games that were announced at the same time as the release of the Switch? Nobody knows. Maybe they'll be Nintendo's ace in the hole next year.

Will we ever understand what Devil Death Stranding is all about?

Just before E3, we had a huge Grounding of death trailer that revealed more than we've ever seen before on the game. Our own Justin Woo went to the bottom of things, deciphering the meaning of the trailer.

… He's not the same since.

That being said, the game looks awesome. We spent a lot of time looking at his shooting and stealth, and it's really amazing the concept of not having a state of death. There are still a lot of pretentious things going on at times "ask me what that means", but at this point they have at least led us to believe that we want to play the game to find out more.

Is Battle Royale still the future of the shooter?

It does not look like that. Although we had a preview of the new content for Apex Legends, and Fallout 76 got its own royal battle mode, we did not see any new and remarkable royal battle game. In fact, it seems that the realm of the shooter regresses a little. Borderlands 3 Go back to the bootyman's formula, Square Enix unveiled the military shooters and sci-fi shooters, and the big Microsoft games were gears and Halo, which are about as clbadic as the shooters.

That's not to say that the royal battle was lightning in the pan. We are sure that Fortnite After the E3 this year, things will always go well, but it looks like the era of developers trying to jump into the battle of the Royal is over.

Is the era of "mini" consoles over?

It seems like. We went through the whole show and no company had a mini-console to show. Looks like it was just a fad.

Is the streaming game totally talking?

It's really a difficult question to answer. We finally got a precise figure showing that even people with low-level Internet connections can play 720p games on streaming services like the Stadia. This is not horrible and it takes no less to reach at least 1080p with a supposedly very stable connection.

But…

If you really want to play with the maximum settings, you will need a speed of about 35 Mbps. Without this, not only your video will suffer, but your sound too. Then there is the question of space. The streaming of games so heavy will consume about 1 TB of bandwidth in 65 hours. Basically, it's an AAA game that reaches your bandwidth limit and cuts your Internet connection in 65 hours if you're in, say, a rural area of America. You can play lower settings, but you still get your bandwidth limit of 114 hours in 1080p or 228 hours in 720p.

Of course, not everyone will have a bandwidth limit, but it still significantly reduces the target audience of the stadiums.

The price of Stadia does not help. Controllers cost $ 70, and the "Founder" edition that includes everything you need to play costs about $ 130. Then there is a monthly subscription fee of $ 10 per month, and then you have to buy individual games at the same price as you have found on other platforms.

Here are some calculations for you. After 17 months of monthly Stadia service, you spent as much as you would have spent on Switch. After two years and a change, you end up spending as much as you would on a PS4. In short, if you adopt the Stadiums early, you will inevitably spend more money than on a console, if you play a lot.

So yes, the video streaming is still a little cooked, but everyone seems to want to get started. The Stadia is just an outlet. Microsoft has its own xCloud service that will allow you to play games from your Xbox as well as a central service. Sony has always PlayStation Now and will announce later this year a considerable improvement. Amazon has a streaming service, Verizon may be preparing a streaming service, even Ubisoft has announced a proprietary code type that will optimize games for streaming.

In short, they are certainly not all speeches. Everyone wants to participate, but nothing has been proven yet. We will probably have a definitive answer to the dawn of the next generation. For our money, even though everyone is trying to say it's the future, there are still too many ways for it to slip and hit the general public.

What does Neftlix do?

Stranger Things 3: the game and a new strategy game based on The dark crystal. It's nothing huge, but it's a small, interesting company in the gaming market.

Are we really going to a model of "games as a service"?

On the plus side, we have not seen many AAA games handling microtransactions this year. We have seen titles like Commander Keen opt for a free mobile version with microtransactions, which could have been a little disappointing for some of the older players in the audience. Most of the time, it seems that "games as a service" are related to the world of mobile telephony, but there are many. It is also worth remembering that some games, such as Borderlands 3 the "games as a service" elements announced before E3.

It seems that the announcement of any kind of microtransactions or elements of "games as a service" at a press conference is becoming a bad public relations action, which could indicate that we are actually moving away from this price structure.

Is this a good thing? Players think so, but developers and game publishers still claim that games are too expensive to create and, with some of the horror stories that surface, we tend to believe them. Again, companies like Nintendo have taken a tough anti-crisis stance and still seem to manage, even if that means their games are often delayed. This may not be because players have to pay more for the games they like. Maybe they just have to pay on time.

Which major titles will we be talking about next year?

There are too many to count. Remake of Final Fantasy 7 was perhaps the biggest title of the show that people could get their hands on. however, Halo Infinity is the first confirmed game for the next generation of consoles and Breath of nature 2 could be the fall of title that caused the most buzz.

There is also Baldur Gate 3 which is exclusive to PC and Stadia, as well as a revival of a popular isometric RPG franchise. Cyberpunk 2077 probably had the greatest stage presence due to the appearance of Keanu Reeves. Yes, it's a cheap marketing tip, but everyone has become aware of it. finally Legion watchdogs was by far the most ambitious game, allowing you to literally play and recruit any character in the game.

But even beyond that, there were tons of titles to promote to E3 2019. Some, like Fire Emblem Three Houses and Borderlands 3 are coming out soon, while others like Elden Ring and Ghostwire are just concepts right now. Despite the turnover of a generation, there does not seem to be a significant decline in the number of successful software titles available to come over the next year.

What new craziness will Devolver Digital bring to its press conference this year?

Devolver now has its own software distribution platform that you can only download via Steam and that only hosts bootleg copies of their own games. In addition, there is a $ 5,000 Enter the Gungeon: Gundead House cabinet arcade that, yes, you can only meet in arcades and has no home version. In addition, the Big Fancy press conference is now called Devolver Direct and was held directly in the spirit of Nina Struthers.
