Chelsea drags off to offer Lampard's manager the job as Derby manager

According to SunSport, CHELSEA has not yet contacted Derby about Frank Lampard, while the Rams are talking to him about a new deal.

The Blues have identified Lampard as Maurizio Sarri's replacement on the hot seat of Stamford Bridge, while the Italian is ready for a return to Serie A with Juventus.

But the championships are determined to retain their rookie leader by opening talks to extend his stay at Pride Park.

Lampard, 40, has been a manager for just one year and was 90 minutes away from driving Derby in the Premier League, but lost to Aston Villa in the playoff finals.

Rams' President, Mel Morris, is resigned to losing Lampard at one point, but wishes he's heading his promotion challenge next season after being so tight in May.

Chelsea wants Lampard, who has spent 13 years in West London, to enter a new era at Stamford Brdie with a team of Academy stars.

The Blues are under embargo on transfers and will not be able to spend the £ 150 million accumulated in their holdings as Eden Hazard officially joined Real Madrid this week.

Club legend Lampard will be responsible for developing such talents as Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori, who had been loaned with him in the last semester at Pride Park.

And when Chelsea finally starts talks with Derby, they will have to pay £ 4m due to a clever championship clause in Lampard's takeover last year.

Any club that will play football in the Champions League when it is the Rams coach will have to pay the agreed fees.

If Lampard made an emotional return to Stamford Bridge, he would be the first English manager since Glenn Hoddle, 26 years ago, to be at the helm.
