The woman, Ama Priscilla, is the girlfriend of a 22-year-old Agyemang Maxwell.
Janet Agyeman, the baby's mother, told the police that Priscilla had visited her boyfriend on Wednesday while she was preparing fufu with him.
Because Priscilla does not eat fufu, her boyfriend gave her some money to go buy some rice in a shop. It was at that time that she begged the baby's mother to take her to the side of the road to buy the rice.
Agyemang Maxwell said she met Priscilla in Nankese, a suburb of Suhum, about three months ago, and decided to go out with her. The lady told her that she was staying and working in Achimota in Accra. She also told Maxwell that she had already given birth to a child, but that he had not lived long and died.
Ama Priscilla has not come back with the baby since Wednesday and all attempts by Maxwell and the baby's mother to reach her via cell phone have been unsuccessful.
The case has since been reported to the Suhum police. When contacted, police said their team was investigating the case.
Maxwell was arrested and badists the police in his investigations.
The family is therefore appealing to the general public to help him arrest the currently fleeing suspect.
